The brand responsible for the creation of the Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit is the Extreme Dog Fence®.
And Extreme Dog Fence® prides itself on not only creating highly effective dog fence systems but also providing fantastic customer.
The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit is actually a pretty comprehensive system as we’ll get to see soon enough. And by comprehensive we mean that it comes with a number of interesting tools. However, before that, let’s find out….
Table of Contents
Who Is The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit For?
The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit is specifically for dogs and for homes that do not want to compromise the aesthetics with visible fences.
Also, because this is an electronic equipment or kit, it is recommended that you not use it on a small dog or puppy. This also translates into not using this on dogs who are sick or generally have a compromised health.
What Are The Features Of The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit?
- The transmitter with its power adapter.
- Collar receiver.
- Adjustable collar.
- Wires, landscape staples and splice kits.
- Training flags.
- Surge protector.
- Training manual.
The Transmitter With Its Power Adapter
In a number of ways, this transmitter is like a number of different other transmitter. You know, it is responsible for detecting when your dog (who will be wearing the receiver has crossed the line).
It is also responsible for sending the appropriate correction mode depending on what you’ve set.
However, one way that this one kinda differs from some others is the fact that it has an LCD screen. This way, it is easier for you to know what level of correction you’ve set.
There are two buttons on the transmitter. One is tagged ‘scroll’ which you’ll use to change correction levels. The other is tagged ‘set’ and is what you’ll use to set the field width (basically, how close your dog wearing the collar has to be to the fence before it goes off).
This kit allows for an unlimited number of dogs. You’ll just have to get extra collars.
Finally, the transmitter has to be constantly plugged in when in use and this is the reason it comes with its very own adapter.
Allow us quickly mention that Extreme Dog Fence® advises that the transmitter be placed indoors and about 3 inches away from metal objects.
Collar Receiver
Now, the receiver is where things get even more interesting. First off, the receiver is waterproof. So, your dog can wear this in the rain (not that they should be) or when they go swimming. In fact, Extreme Dog Fence® says the receiver can be submerged as deep as 10 feet.
That said, there are 7 correction levels to this receiver which you’ll set using the transmitter. The correction mode used with this kit is static shock. However, if you are not interested in the static shock, there is an option for you to use just beeps and that is level 0.
Moving forward, this receiver comes with two pairs of contact points (one long pair and one short pair) and one pair of comfortable rubber covers.
The contact points will be attached to the inside of the receiver and when you place the receiver on your dog’s neck, the contact points have to touch their skin (not the fur). This is why you get a long pair and a short pair; if your dog is long furred, the long pair would be more effective.
The rubber covers are there for you to use if you are not comfortable with metal probes touching your dog’s skin. That is, you’ll cover the contact points with the rubber covers.
Finally, the receiver uses replaceable batteries and so comes with 1 6V battery.
Adjustable Collar
To keep the receiver on, you’ll need the adjustable collar. The adjustable collar that comes with this kit is made of nylon and while it isn’t waterproof like the receiver, it is water safe.
The collar receiver uses a plastic buckle for a clasp and a plastic tri glide for adjustments.
Wires, Landscape Staples And Splice Kits
Here is somewhere else where things get interesting. For one, this kit comes with two different kinds of wire. One is 1000 inches of 14 AWG wire. It is made of copper and coated with polyethylene.
This is actually the boundary wire and Extreme Dog Fence® says the wire is waterproof. As a result, you can place the wire on the ground or on a fence. This is why there are landscape staples; 10 of them.
The other wire is 50 inches of 16 AWG wire. It is a twisted wire and is also made of steel and coated with polyethylene. The twisted wire can be used to connect the transmitter to a boundary loop.
While you can decide not to bury the wires, burying the wires is still fine. In fact, Extreme Dog Fence® says you can bury the wire as low as 18 inches and it will still be able to pick up signals.
Interestingly, because the wires are waterproof, Extreme Dog Fence® says you can bury them in water and still be good.
Finally, this kit comes with 4 waterproof splice kits which you’ll find necessary if you need to connect cut wire.
Training Flags
The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit comes with 100 training flags. Allow us quickly mention that if this is the first time you are using a dog fence containment, you’ll have to train your dog to respect the boundaries as it isn’t enough to just set things up.
You’ll basically be needing the training flags if you are placing the wires on or below the ground. And this is because your dog needs visual markers to teach them where their boundaries are.
That said, some people decide to keep the training flags even after the training period but that is totally up to you.
Surge Protector
First off, this doesn’t actually come with the kit. You’ll only get this if you register the system after purchase.
That said, this is a pretty impressive tool as it protects both the transmitter and the wires from any electrical surges.
Training Manual
Finally, you’ll get a training manual which you’ll find pretty helpful, especially if you are new to the whole dog fence thing. The training manual is written in easy to understand English.
Is The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit User Friendly?
The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit is user friendly. It is easy to assemble and use. And we actually think that the fact that a good portion of the kit is waterproof helps a lot.
However, we always recommend that you refer to a professional for the training phase of using this kit. It is our opinion that a professional is in a better position to teach you and your dog to use this kit without causing harm to either party.
Pros Of The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit
- The receiver and wires are waterproof. So, not only is that safe, it also allows for flexibility as you can use this kit in a number of situations even if some of them are wet.
- The kit allows for an unlimited number of dogs. You’ll just have to get extra collar receivers.
- There is the temp check feature that ensures that the fence stays in place in spite of changes in temperature.

- There is also a 12x battery check feature that checks the status of the receiver’s battery as frequently as two hours. It then eliminates any false battery indications.

What Are The Cons Of The Extreme Dog Fence® Professional Grade Fence Kit?

This Extreme Dog Fence® is actually pretty loved in the dog community; at least among dog parents who have used it.
